Elizabeth Holmes – young college dropout shows up with technology that exceeds science fiction with no peer review papers, gets billions in financing.
Church leaders, pundits and political figures that tell us what we want to hear and then we fall for them to the point that we can’t see their blatant flaws.
Why does this keep happening? Same as the garden – the serpent deceives.
But examine everything carefully; hold fast to that which is good; abstain from every form of evil. (1Th 5:21-22)
This isn’t just for religious stuff. We have to be diligent in all things, brothers and sisters. Deception is very strong and very alluring. What we think isn’t spiritual always ends up being spiritual. Elizabeth Holmes defrauded immense people and caused others to have physical harm with faulty medical tests. Friedman defrauded financial houses and caused people’s pensions and 401ks to get decimated. Religious cult leaders enrich themselves and abuse authority given to them by their followers. Political leaders who don’t have ethics or a conscience don’t care if they harm the universe as long as they get re-elected. All of these things are incredibly sinful with devastating consequences.
In the end times, there will be false prophets who perform miracles to get people to follow them. At the present time, we as a society keep following false prophets without the miracles. Think about that for a while.
