Just Get Here

Here we sit on our way home from our second annual visit to Church of God Fellowship for the last half of the Days of Unleavened Bread. Again, I praise this incredibly uplifting congregation for their hospitality and Christian service. During today’s fabulous service, inspiration struck. It’s the idea to “just get here”. This congregation covers just about everything for those who can get to the assembly for the Days of Unleavened Bread. All a believer has to do to fellowship with God’s people over this appointed time is get there. Don’t worry about what to wear, don’t worry about what to eat, don’t worry about where to sleep – just get here and they handle the rest! The local congregation prepares everything so that the visitors have nothing to worry about. Just get here, let them serve you, and get closer to God for a couple of days. It is a marvelous atmosphere. The music is great.

This is a direct parallel with the meaning of Christianity. All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, all are in need of a savior, and Christ says “just get here”. Don’t worry about what you have done. Forget your past, as sordid and chaotic as it may be. Don’t worry about what to wear, He will clothe you in white garments. Don’t worry about where to sleep, He has prepared mansions for you. Don’t worry about what to eat, He is the bread of life. Don’t worry about what to drink, He will provide a river of living water. Just get here and let Christ handle it, because that’s what He is for. That’s why He came, so that all who believe in Him may have life eternal. Just get here. The atmosphere is marvelous. The music is great.

Then I heard something like the voice of a great multitude and like the sound of many waters and like the sound of mighty peals of thunder, saying, “Hallelujah! For the Lord our God, the Almighty, reigns. “Let us rejoice and be glad and give the glory to Him, for the marriage of the Lamb has come and His bride has made herself ready.” It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he *said to me, “Write, ‘Blessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.'” And he *said to me, “These are true words of God.”(Rev 19: 6-9)
